What are digital tags?

Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) are small electronic devices used in retail stores to display product information, prices descriptions and barcodes. They replace traditional paper rice tags and are wirelessly connected to a stores central management system, allowing updates to be made in real time.

Pro Tip: Manufacturer Name -> Minew

How to Order?

"Choose sizes, check prices, and order here."

We need to create an order form.

The duration of the process depends on the order form.

Phase 1: Ask for Our Team’s Help

First things first — let us give you a hand! Our team will assist in integrating your user account with Minew’s platform.

➡️ Visit: https://appliance.io/contact-us and fill out the form based on your specific needs. Once you’ve done that, we’ll be in touch to get things rolling!

Step 1

Connect the Gateway to your Computer using a USB Cable. You will see the Gateway light up with a colorful loop.

Step 2

Flip over the Gateway and locate the "MAC Address".

Step 3

On your phone: Go to your Wifi Settings and find the gateways MAC address on the list. Connect to the gateways network.

Phase 2: Minew Device Configuration

Now it’s time to configure your gateways. Without proper configuration, the gateways will remain offline even if they’re added to the cloud platform. Don’t worry — we’ve got two ways to get them connected.

Step 1

Open your browser on your mobile phone and type in the MAC address for your gateway.

Step 2

You are now at the configuration page. Login to proceed (no password needed).

Step 3

Go to the NETWORK tab at the top.

Step 4

Select WIRELESS. (If you are using an ethernet cable, choose ethernet).

Step 5

Select an available Wi-Fi network from the list.

Step 6

Head over to the SERVICE tab at the top.

Step 7

In the URL field, enter 1 of the following:

  • tcp://cloud.minewtag.com:2883 or

  • ssl://cloud.minewtag.com:9883

Step 8

Click APPLY to save the configuration.

NOTICE THAT THE LIGHT ON THE GATEWAY SWITCHED TO A SINGLE COLOR!

After a few minutes, the light will turn off to save energy. However, it is still on.

YOUR GATEWAY IS NOW FULLY CONFIGURED!

Phase 3: AIO Platform Configuration

Let’s get the digital price tags connected to the AIO platform!

1. Access Settings

Head over to your Settings page.

Click 'settings'

2. Go to Digital Price Tags

From there, click on Digital Price Tags.

Click 'Digital Price Tags'

3. Select Your Location

Now you’re on the main Digital Price Tags page. Before anything else, make sure to select your Location at the top. Everything ties back to this, so don’t skip it.

d

4. Open Digital Price Tags Settings Tab

Next up — let’s add a Gateway. Click on the Settings tab.

Click 'Settings'

5. Add a New Gateway

and hit Add Gateway.

Click 'Add Gateway'

6. Enter Gateway Details

A pop-up window will appear. You’ll need to fill in two fields here:

  • Gateway Name: Give it a unique name for easy identification.

  • MAC Address: You can usually find this on the back of the device or packaging. Make sure you enter this correctly to avoid connection issues.

Click 'Add Gateway
                                  close'

7. Save Your Gateway

Once both are in, just hit Save.

Click 'Save'

8. New Gateway Has Been Added

Boom — your new gateway is now added to the list!

d

9. Verify the Gateway Status

Now here’s something you’ll notice: This example Gateway won’t show things like Model, WiFi Firmware Version, or BLE Firmware Version — and that’s totally normal. This one's just a placeholder for demo purposes. When you're working with real devices, those fields will auto-fill once the Gateway syncs up properly.

d

IT SHOULD SHOW THAT THE GATEWAY IS ONLINE

And now, your platform configuration is complete!

Phase 4: Connect Your Digital Tags to Inventory

Make sure you have your box of tags ready to go, and you are located close to the Gateway.

Step 1

From the Platform screen you are currently on, go to Products & Tags.

Note: You will see all of the model numbers for the appliances that are currently located on your sales floor.

Step 2

You can filter them down, search by model number or go down the list - whichever is easiest for you.

Step 3

Pull out a digital tag from your box and flip it over, identify the MAC address.

Step 4

Simply pop that MAC address into the field that correlates to your model number and it will automatically accept it.

Pro Tip: You should see the Digital Tag respond, as it connects.

The smaller tags connect almost instantly.

The larger tags can take longer to connect.

Suggestions:

  • Start with a small tag, so you can easily confirm all is working.

  • As you move along, just enter MAC addresses for the larger tags and continue adding tags without confirming that they are working.

  • Then, by the time, you circle back, the larger tags should be good to go.

  • If after an hour, you have any issues with the larger tags - please let us know! It should not take this long, but it could.

NOW YOUR TAGS SHOULD BE CONNECTED TO YOUR DISPLAY INVENTORY!

Phase 5: Learn How to Use the Mobile Scan Feature

Step 1

If you have a mobile scanner, great! If not, open the Platform (POS) on your mobile device.

Step 2

Go to SETTINGS.

Step 3

Navigate to DIGITAL PRICE TAGS.

Step 4

Keep in mind that the platform layout might look slightly different on your mobile device compared to other devices.

Step 5

Tap on the QR Code option.
Pro Tip: This will automatically open your phone's camera!

Step 6

Use your camera to scan the barcode on the back of the digital price tag.
The MAC address will be loaded into the system automatically.

🎉 That’s it! You’re all set!
Now, keep scanning the tags as you move around the sales floor and attach them to the machines as you go. Smooth and easy!

Pro Tips:

Remember to keep the larger tags as close to the Gateway as possible, while they are connecting.

If you would like to attach the digital tags to your machines, we recommend using Command Velcro Strips so that they can be easily removed if needed.

Phase 6: Troubleshooting

When the Gateway Shows Offline

Don’t panic! Here’s how to troubleshoot:

  1. Check your connection:
Ensure you’re connected to the correct network.

  2. Firewall settings:
If your connection is solid but the gateway is still offline, make sure your Wi-Fi or Ethernet isn’t blocked by a firewall. Some modems have firewall features that restrict access to certain regions.

    • Add these regions to your firewall whitelist: Hong Kong, Singapore, China.

  3. Still offline?
It might be a firmware or gateway issue. Contact us, and we’ll help you out.

When Digital Price Tags (ESL) Show Offline

Here’s the game plan:

  1. Check the gateway status:
Make sure the gateway itself is online.

  2. Update the POS:
Verify if the Point of Sale system is up-to-date.

  3. Battery check:
If the ESL has been in use for a while, it might just need a battery replacement.

  4. New device activation:
If it’s a new ESL, we may need to activate its MAC address. Contact us for help.

  5. MAC address accuracy:
Typos happen! Double-check the MAC address you entered.

  6. POS error messages:
If you see errors related to “templates” or other technical issues, it could be on our end. Reach out to us for assistance.

When Digital Price Tags Are Online but Not Rendering

If the ESL is online but not displaying correctly, here’s what to check:

  1. Device placement:
Ensure the ESL isn’t too far from the gateway or placed in an isolated room.

  2. If it’s close to the gateway:

    • The battery may be low but still functional.

    • There might be a firmware issue.

For firmware-related problems, contact us for support — we’ll get it sorted!
