Adding a New Customer

Create and manage customers quickly

Adding customers in Appliance.io is fast and flexible. Whether you’re starting a quote or managing your customer list, the Customer creation process ensures you capture accurate contact, billing, and delivery information — all in one place. This helps you stay organized, communicate smoothly, and move from quote to order without friction.


📍 Accessing Customer Creation

There are two ways to add a new customer in Appliance.io. Both lead to the same customer form, so you can choose what fits your workflow best.

Option 1: From Start a Quote

  1. Click Start a Quote at the top-left corner of any page.

  2. In the Customer search bar, click Add New Customer below the search field.

This is the fastest option when you’re creating a quote right away.

Option 2: From Customer Hub

  1. Open the sidebar and click Customer Hub.

  2. In the top-right corner, click Add Customer.

This option is ideal when you want to manage or prepare customer records ahead of time.


🧾 Billing Information

Start by selecting the Customer Type:

  • Individual – For personal customers

  • Company – For business customers

If you choose Company, two additional fields will appear:

  • Company Name

  • Building Code

All other fields remain the same for both customer types.


👤 Customer Name & Phone Numbers

Enter the customer’s First Name and Last Name.

Next, add Phone Numbers. To make sure customers are easy to reach, you can enter up to three numbers:

  • Mobile (required)

  • Home (optional)

  • Alternate (optional)

The phone country defaults to the United States, but you can change it if needed.


📧 Email Information

Add the customer’s email details:

  • One Primary Email

  • Optional Alternate Billing Emails, if applicable

This ensures invoices, updates, and communications reach the right inbox.


🏠 Billing Address

Enter the customer’s billing address by:

  • Typing directly into the address field, or

  • Clicking Enter Address Manually for more detailed or precise information

Accurate address details help avoid billing and delivery issues later on.


👥 Secondary Contact (Optional)

If the customer has an emergency or backup contact, enable Secondary Contact.

Once checked, additional fields appear:

  • First and Last Name

  • Phone Number

  • Email

  • Relationship

  • Contact Type

This is useful for businesses or customers who want an alternate point of contact.


🚚 Delivery Information

Below the Secondary Contact section, you’ll find Delivery info same as billing.

  • This option is disabled if the billing address is outside the US.

  • If the billing address is within the US, you can check this box to automatically copy the billing details and hide the delivery fields.

If the delivery address is different, simply fill in the delivery information manually.

Note: Delivery is currently available within the US only, so the country cannot be changed.


🧾 Tax Exempt

If the customer qualifies for tax exemption, check the Tax Exempt box.

📣 How Did You Hear About Us

Select how the customer heard about your business.
These options can be customized in Company Settings and help track referrals and marketing performance.


💾 Save & Start Quoting

Once all required fields are completed, click Save.

Your customer is now created and ready to use — you can immediately create a quote, add orders, and schedule deliveries.


🎉 You’re All Set!

That’s it — you’ve successfully added a new customer in Appliance.io.
