Product Pricing Settings

Set competitive prices and protect your profit margins

Written by Audry
Updated over a week ago

The Product Pricing tool in Appliance.io gives you full control over how your products are priced. From setting rule-based strategies and ensuring brand compliance to analyzing competitor data and boosting margins, it’s built to help you price confidently and stay competitive — without manual guesswork.

✅ Cost, Price, and Profit Basics

Cost is what you pay to acquire the product (wholesale, shipping, storage).
Price is what your customer pays when buying from you.
Profit = Price – Cost

Example: You buy a fridge for $800 (cost), sell it for $1,200 (price), profit $400.

📍 Accessing Product Pricing

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click Product Pricing

You’ll see the main dashboard with two tabs:

  • Price Rule – Set brand-level pricing logic

  • My Competitors – Choose which competitor data sources are used for LAP/LCP

In the top-right:

  • Price Tags Sync updates the website/POS with your latest prices

  • Import Cost to upload product costs in bulk using a CSV template

  • Changelog shows full history of changes (who, what, when)

🎯 Filters

  • Filter by Brand

  • Search by Model Number

  • Click Reset Filter to clear all filters

💡Note: If a brand is missing, go to Settings > Product Catalog, search for the brand, and toggle it to Yes to activate.

🛠 Editing Brand Prices

Click the pencil icon next to a brand to open pricing rules.

🚫 Product Pricing Display

At the top is Product Pricing Display.

When enabled, pricing for that brand is hidden on your website.
Products remain visible, but customers see your custom message and action button instead. Internal pricing is unaffected.

Setup includes:

  • Entering a Custom Message

  • Choosing a Contact Method (phone call or email client)

  • Viewing a live button preview

💵 Regular Price Rule

⚠️ Important: Please read our article about Price Rules for a more detailed rule explanation

This section defines your default pricing logic, such as MAP or MSRP.

After selecting a rule, you can:

  • Mark Down

  • Match competitor pricing

  • Mark Up for additional margin

A Suggested Rule tip may appear to recommend a profit-optimized setup.

💸Sale Price Rule

Used for promotions and discounts.

Includes two compliance protections:

  • MAP Compliance

When MAP Compliance is ON, the system ensures your sale prices never drop below the brand’s minimum advertised price.
The enforcement priority is:

  1. LRP (Highest priority)

  2. PMAP

  3. MAP

  4. No enforcement if none exist

If none exist, enforcement is skipped. Only violating models are auto-corrected; all others continue following your active Sale Price Rule.

Enable Include PMAP if you want to factor in temporary promotional MAPs; turn it off to use standard MAP data only.

⚠️ Important: If you attempt to set a price lower than LRP, PMAP, or MAP, the system will prevent the change and display a validation message — ensuring full brand compliance.

  • UMRP Compliance

Brands that include UMRP data now display a dedicated UMRP Compliance toggle. It functions just like MAP Compliance but enforces strict UMRP adherence — no overrides or fallback pricing allowed.

  • Only one compliance toggle (either UMRP or MAP) appears per brand.

  • Tooltips clearly explain which rule applies and why.

  • If a model lacks UMRP data, it automatically follows your Regular Price Rule instead.

This update gives you stronger protection for brands that enforce unilateral minimum pricing policies.

Below this is Pricing Rule Settings, which functions the same as regular pricing.

💡Note: You cannot use the same rule for both Regular and Sale prices.

Recommended Price Rule:

Regular = MSRP

Sale = LAP / MAP / LRP depending on strategy.

➕ Additional Pricing Rules

You can also add Additional Pricing Rules as backups.
If your main Sale Price rule returns a value of 0 or is missing, the system will automatically check these fallback rules — up to five maximum.

Click Add Fallback Rule to create one
Only the first valid price found will be used, and you can drag and drop the order of these rules to prioritize which ones the system should check first.

💡Note: If using MAP, you can enable Include PMAP to allow promotional MAP pricing.

These additional rules work the same way as your regular Sale Price rule.

🛒 See Price in Cart toggle (Optional)

This toggle will be using LCP (Lowest Cart Price) as its rule – The lowest competitor price revealed at checkout.

When enabled:

  • Sale price shows with a strikethrough

  • The final (lower) LCP price appears only in the cart

  • Only activates if LCP < Sale & Regular price

💰 Minimum Margin Enforcement

Ensures you never sell a product for less than your desired profit threshold.

When this option is turned on, the system automatically checks your cost and enforces the minimum margin percentage you’ve defined — guaranteeing every sale remains profitable. Even if a competitor runs an extreme sale, or a MAP/LAP rule would usually lower your price, this setting will prevent you from going below your safe profit line.

Example:
If you pay $800 for an appliance and set your minimum margin at 20%, the lowest price you’ll ever sell it for is $960. Even if a competitor lists it for $899, your system will not match it — because doing so would cut into your profit.

💡Tip: This feature exists to protect your business, maintain healthy margins, and prevent loss-making sales. It’s strongly recommended to keep this enabled at all times.

🧾 Editing Individual Products

To edit specific SKUs, click the brand name to open its product list.

Filter tools include:

  • Model Number search

  • Show Only Manually Priced Models

  • Show Only SKUs Below Minimum Margin

You can manually adjust:

  • Cost

  • Regular Price

  • Sale Price

Once edited, the source switches to Manual so you know it’s customized.

⚠️ Minimum Margin Indicator

On the right side, you’ll see a margin indicator based on cost and your minimum margin setting:

  • Above target → Healthy

  • Below target → Below Min. warning

🔄 Resetting Manual Prices
