The Digital Tags Setup process in Appliance.io walks you through everything needed to install, configure, and connect your Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) — from ordering hardware and activating gateways to pairing tags with your inventory.
It’s designed to make your in-store pricing accurate, wireless, and effortless.

📍 Accessing Digital Tags Setup

To begin, open the sidebar and click Settings.
Scroll down to find the Digital Price Tags section.

At the top of the Digital Tags page, you’ll find these tabs:

  • Products & Tags – Pair tags to your inventory

  • Settings – Manage gateways and system preferences

The Digital Tags Setup includes six main phases:

  1. Ordering

  2. Gateway & Device Configuration

  3. AIO Platform Configuration

  4. Tag-to-Inventory Connection

  5. Mobile Scan Feature

  6. Troubleshooting

Each phase guides you through simple steps to deploy your tags confidently and efficiently.

🛒 Phase 1: Ordering Your Digital Tags

Digital tags are powered by Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) — small wireless displays that show product prices, descriptions, and barcodes. They automatically sync with your AIO platform, replacing traditional paper price tags.

Manufacturer: Minew

To Order:
Choose your tag sizes, check pricing, and place your order through Appliance.io.
(An order form will be added soon!)

Important:
The timeline for acquiring your tags depends on how quickly the order form is completed.

Before proceeding to set up, contact our team so we can integrate your user account with Minew’s platform.

➡️ Visit https://appliance.io/contact-us and fill out the form.
Once submitted, our team will help you get started.

🔌 Phase 2: Minew Gateway Configuration

Configuring your Minew gateway ensures it can communicate with your Wi-Fi and the Appliance.io platform. Without this step, your gateway will remain offline even if added to the cloud.

Step 1: Connect the Gateway

Plug your gateway into your computer using a USB cable.
It will light up with a colorful loop.

Step 2: Locate the IP Address and MAC Address

Flip the gateway over and find the IP Address and MAC Address label.

Step 3: Connect to the Gateway Network

On your phone, open Wi-Fi settings. Find the gateway’s MAC address listed as a Wi-Fi network, then connect.

Step 4: Access the Configuration Page

Open your mobile browser and enter the IP Address into the URL bar.
You will be taken to the configuration page.
Log in — no password required.

Step 5: Configure the Network

  • Go to the NETWORK tab

  • Select WIRELESS (or Ethernet, if using a cable)

  • Choose your store’s Wi-Fi network

  • The Primary DNS Address should be autofilled; if it's blank, enter 8.8.8.8

Step 6: Set the Cloud Service

Go to the Service tab and enter one of the following URLs:

  • tcp://cloud.minewtag.com:2883

  • ssl://cloud.minewtag.com:9883

Click APPLY to save.

Gateway Light Behavior:
It will switch to a single solid color, then turn off after a few minutes to save energy — this is normal.
Your gateway is now fully configured!

⚙️ Phase 3: AIO Platform Configuration

Now that your gateway is online, it’s time to register it inside your Appliance.io account.

Step 1: Go to Settings

Open Settings in the sidebar.

Step 2: Open Digital Price Tags

Select Digital Price Tags from the menu.

Step 3: Select Your Location

Make sure the correct store location is selected at the top of the page.

Step 4: Open Digital Price Tags Settings

Click the Settings tab.

Step 5: Add a Gateway

Click Add Gateway.

Step 6: Enter Gateway Details

A pop-up will appear requesting:

  • Gateway Name — Give it a unique label

  • MAC Address — Located on the device

Click Add Gateway → then Save.

Step 7: Verify Status

Your newly added gateway will appear in the list.

For real devices (not demos), details like WiFi version, BLE version, and model will auto-fill when the gateway syncs correctly.
You should see: Status: Online

Your platform setup is now complete!

🏷️ Phase 4: Connecting Digital Tags to Inventory

Make sure you are close to the gateway and have your tags ready.

Step 1: Go to Products & Tags

You’ll see all the appliance models currently displayed on your sales floor.

Step 2: Find the Product

Search by model number or browse the list.

Step 3: Locate the Tag MAC Address

Flip the digital tag over and find its MAC Address.

Step 4: Assign the Tag

Enter the MAC address into the corresponding product field.
The system will auto-accept and connect the device.

Pro Tips:

  • Small tags connect almost instantly

  • Larger tags take longer — enter all MACs first, then return later

  • If a large tag takes more than an hour to connect, let us know

Your tags are now connected to your live inventory!

📱 Phase 5: Using the Mobile Scan Feature

This allows faster tagging across your sales floor.

Step 1: Use a mobile scanner or open the AIO Platform on your phone.

Step 2: Go to Settings.

Step 3: Tap Digital Price Tags.

Step 4: Select QR Code (this opens your camera automatically).

Step 5: Scan the barcode on the back of the digital tag.

The MAC address will auto-populate — no typing required.

Attach tags as you go for a smooth, efficient workflow.

Extra Tips:

  • Keep large tags close to the gateway during activation

  • Use Command Velcro strips for easy mounting and removal

🛠️ Phase 6: Troubleshooting

Gateway Shows Offline

Check the following:

  • Network: Ensure you're connected to the correct Wi-Fi.

  • Firewall: Some firewalls block Minew regions. Whitelist these regions: Hong Kong, Singapore, or China

  • Still Offline? It may be a firmware or hardware issue — contact us for support.

Digital Tags Show Offline

Check the following:

  • Ensure the gateway is online

  • Confirm the POS is updated

  • Check the tag battery level

  • For new tags, ensure MAC activation is complete

  • Verify the MAC address entered

  • If POS shows template-related errors, reach out for assistance

Digital Tags Are Online but Not Displaying

This usually means:

  • The tag is too far from the gateway

  • Signal obstruction (isolated room)

  • Low battery

  • Firmware problems (contact us)
