How to Import Inventory

How to Import Items in your Inventory

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Import Inventory feature in Appliance.io makes it simple to add products in bulk. Whether you’re uploading new models or updating stock levels, this process ensures everything stays accurate, organized, and ready for use.

📍 Accessing Import Inventory

  1. Go to the Purchase Orders page

  2. Click Receive Inventory (top-right corner)

  3. From the dropdown, select Import by CSV

⚙️ Setting Import Details

Before uploading, set a few key options:

  • Stock Inventory Location → where the items will be stored

  • Storage Location (optional)

  • Condition → required (this determines which template you’ll use)

Once these are set, the option to Upload CSV File will appear.

📂 Preparing Your File

Your import file should include:

  • Model Number

  • Brand

  • Quantity

  • Cost

Need help? Click Download Template to grab a ready-to-use format.

⬆️ Uploading & Previewing

  • Drag and drop your file (or click to upload)

  • Review the Preview File section

💡 Even models not yet registered in the system will upload — but they’ll be flagged during validation.

📊 Import Validation Summary

After clicking Import, you’ll see a summary pop-up with:

  • Categorized Models → valid and ready to use

  • Uncategorized Models → flagged with warnings (unregistered models)

Unregistered models can’t be used in quotes or orders until they’re registered.

Options include:

  • Download Unregistered List

  • Send to Skulytics Team for review

  • Register Models Yourself

📤 Sending to Skulytics Team

  1. Click Send for Data Correction

  2. Confirm in the pop-up

  3. The Skulytics Team will review and add models if everything checks out

  4. You’ll receive a notification once the update is complete

📝 Registering Models Yourself

Choose between two methods:

  • Single Model Registration

  • Bulk Import

Upload your file (drag-and-drop or click). A template is available if needed.

Validation tools will highlight:

  • Unknown categories (warning icon + tooltip)

  • Unrecognized brands

👉 To fix these, create custom Brands and Categories (see tutorial).

Once registered successfully, repeat the import process so the models can be added to the inventory.

🎉 You’re Ready!

That’s it — you’ve imported your inventory into Appliance.io! With validation, brand/category checks, and model registration tools, your stock data stays accurate and fully ready for sales, quotes, and deliveries.
