Hey there! In this article, we’re going to walk you through how to register a model number in the system. Let’s get into it!
Where to Go
First things first — from the sidebar, click on Inventory.
At the top of the Inventory page, you’ll see a button that says Register Model Number. Go ahead and click that.
Registering the Model
Register Model Number
Now, you've got two options here: Register Model Number and Update Existing. Let’s start with the Register Model Number.
New Model
You’ll start by choosing the Model Type. Is this a New Model or an Old Model? Let’s go with the New Model first.
Here’s what you’ll fill out: Model Number — super important: make sure it’s typed exactly as it appears. No extra spaces or weird characters.
Model Name and UPC Code — the UPC is optional, so you can leave it blank if you need to.
Brand Name — select it from the dropdown. Then, assign it to the right categories: Appliance Type, Sub-Category, and Detail Category.
Once you’ve got everything filled in, just click Save, and your model is registered!
Old Model
Now let’s talk about the Old Model option. This is used for models that are no longer active or have been discontinued, and aren’t already in our database. Important note: you can’t register an active model as an old one.
Just like before, you’ll enter: Model Number,
the Model Name and optionally, the UPC Code,
Then pick the Brand Name, Appliance Type, Sub-Category, and Detail Category (if it exists). It’s basically the same form — just make sure you’re using it for the right kind of model.
When you're all set, click Save.
Update Existing
Last but not least, let’s cover Update Existing. This one’s super simple.
Start by entering the Model Number you want to update.
Here’s the key thing to remember — the only thing you can edit here is the UPC Code. That’s it! No changes to model names, brands, or categories.
Once you've updated the UPC, hit Save, and you’re done.
And that’s it! You’ve just learned how to register and update model numbers in Appliance.io. Thanks for reading — and we’ll see you in the next one!
