How to Change a Model on an Order

Update an order’s model quickly when a SKU needs to be corrected

Sometimes an order is already created, and you realize the model needs to be changed — maybe the wrong SKU was selected, or the customer decided on a different option. No worries! Appliance.io makes it easy to update the model as long as it stays within the same product category.

This guide walks you through how to unreserve the original model and replace it with the correct one.


📍 Accessing the Order

To begin, open the order you want to update from My Orders.

Once inside the order, locate the In Warehouse & Reserved section. This is where the current model and reservation status live.


🔓 Step 1: Unreserve the Current Model

Before you can change the model, the order must be reopened and the item unreserved.

  1. Click the Order Status dropdown

  2. Change the status to Open

    • This unlocks the order for editing

  3. Click Check Stock

  4. Select Unreserve

You’ll be prompted to choose where the model should return:

  • Select the appropriate Inventory Location, or

  • Click Yes, Unreserve if there’s no change needed

Once confirmed, the model is successfully unreserved.


✏️ Step 2: Edit the Model

With the item unreserved, you can now update the product.

  1. Click the pencil icon next to Check Stock

  2. Enter the SKU for the new model

💡 Quick tip: Double-check the SKU before saving to make sure it’s the correct one.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • The new model must be in the same category as the original

    • For example, you can’t swap a refrigerator for a washer

  • The appliance family must remain the same


💾 Step 3: Save the Changes

After entering the new SKU, click Save.

The order is now updated with the new model and is ready to continue through delivery or fulfillment.


⚠️ Pricing Reminder

Changing the model does not allow you to adjust pricing — even if the new model is more expensive. If you need accurate pricing changes, you’ll need to process a Return instead.
