This is a guide to the various stages that inventory can hold in Appliance.io

In Appliance.io, inventory progresses through five distinct stages, ensuring accurate tracking and seamless operations. These stages are:

  1. Requested

  2. On Order

  3. In Stock

  4. Reserved

  5. Delivered

1. Requested

The Requested stage refers to items that are being requested from the manufacturer. Inventory requests can only be made when there are no units currently "On Order" or "Available."

Inventory requests must originate from the receiving location where the company’s inventory is managed. Requests cannot be initiated from other locations or branches.

2. On Order

On Order inventory represents items that have been ordered from the manufacturer but have not yet received by the company.

Items in the "On Order" stage can be reserved even before they arrive. This allows sales teams to allocate inventory in advance for customer orders or internal needs.

3. In Stock

In Stock inventory refers to items that have been received at the warehouse but are not yet reserved for any specific customer.

These items are ready to be sold or reserved. This stage indicates that the product is physically available but still unassigned to any order.

4. Reserved

Reserved inventory represents items that have been sold to a customer and are pending delivery.

These items are allocated to a customer but remain on-site until scheduled for shipment or pickup. Ensures that the sold product is set aside and no longer available for other sales.

5. Delivered

Delivered inventory refers to items that have been successfully delivered to the customer and are no longer tracked within the company's stock.

For companies using third-party delivery services, the status changes to "Delivered" as soon as the third party takes possession of the item. At this stage, the transaction is considered fulfilled, and the product exits the company’s inventory system.
