Hey there! This is one of those interesting scenarios that requires a creative solution, so we’re going to walk you through the steps to keep everything running smoothly and in sync!

The Situation

Sometimes when you're placing an order, the client may not want the items delivered right away, but instead on a future date. If the items are not in stock, this is easy.

If it's not in stock

Simply open the Check Stock box,

Choose to request the item, and select a future date instead of immediate delivery.

Click 'Inventory Location
                           Ballwin
                                    Ballwin

                                    0 Available...'

If it's in stock

However, if the item is already in stock, you usually don't want to reserve it because doing so would tie up inventory in your warehouse that could otherwise be sold, potentially for months.

Click 'Inventory Location
                           Ballwin
                                    Ballwin

                                    11 Available...'

Purchase Order Page

The best way to handle this is to go to the Purchase Order page,

Click 'description'

Add a Request

and click Add a Request.

Click 'Add Requests'

Enter the model number,

Click 'Model Number'

quantity,

Click 'Model Number Qty Storage Location
          Select Storage Location
Floor 1 Floor 2 No elements found. Consider changing the search query. List is empty.'

and location, which is optional.

then save the request.

Click 'Save'

Find your request

Once saved, search for it by entering the model number in the top left filter and setting the Needed By filter to all.

Click 'Search Everything'

Edit it

Then click the edit pencil under the Needed By column,

Click '200 10 25 50 100 200 No elements found. Consider changing the search query. List is empty. items per page'

Set the date

and set the date you want the item in stock, remembering to pad it by a couple of days to ensure it arrives in time for delivery.

Click 'Cancel

                    Save'

Once you're done, don't forget to hit Save.

Click 'Save'

Assign the Request to Your Order

After that, simply click the Assign button next to the line item,

Click 'Assign'

and link it to the original order.

Then, hit Save.

Click 'Save'

Confirm on Order

Once you return to the original order, you’ll see that the item is now properly requested and the correct quantity is reflected.

And that’s it! Now your inventory manager can get the items in-house at just the right time for them to be delivered to your customer - even if it's months down the line!
